Second Hour of the Rob Taylor Report:

Karl Popoff moved to Gold Beach in 1985.  He grew up in North Bend.  Karl enjoys most athletic pursuits, reading, and spending time with his family.  He has been married to wife, since 1978 and they have five children.

Currently he serves as the Mayor of Gold Beach

Popoff’s goal as Mayor is to provide honest government that is accountable to the citizens of Gold Beach.

The Gold Beach City Council voted to censure Mayor Karl Popoff Tuesday evening on June 16 after an hour and 40-minute closed session that included a consultation with Christy Monson, the city’s legal counsel.

Council members Tamie Kaufman and Summer Matteson asked the council to meet to consider comments made by Popoff in an email to members of the board of directors of Oregon Coast Community Action.

The email discussed deep levels of institutional racism in the country and explained that nationwide community action programs like ORCCA stemmed from the Civil Rights movement.

Popoff replied: “Kim, with all due respect, you can shove your racism bandwagon.

“I am so sick of having people throwing up racism/white privilege at every turn,” he continued. “You want to know what is hurting blacks? The welfare system. NO dads at home. And, you know what? It is also hurting whites, and American Indians. Black lives don’t matter to Black Lives Matter people....”

Mr. Popoff will discuss his response and the city council voting to censure him.

I think Karl is getting a bad rap and that is why I wanted to have him on the show. Many Americans, including myself, are tired of the sanctimonious droning on about systemic racism. It is an insult to rational people and it is a form of “white shaming.” America has its problems, but we have helped more people of the world than any other nation and we have nothing to be ashamed about.
